Foellinger Great Hall
Tours

Krannert Center is an extraordinary facility. Its four indoor theatres, outdoor amphitheatre, shops, rehearsal and classroom spaces, offices, and outdoor grounds occupy two square blocks. A tour of the facility offers a complete picture of the performance, educational, and professional activities that go on at Krannert Center as you hear facts and figures about the building from conception through reality and bits of lore handed down since the Center’s dedication in 1969.

Free tours are conducted daily at 3pm, when U of I classes are in session, by members of the Krannert Center Student Association and Krannert Center staff. Special tours can always be arranged by calling the Patron Services Director at 217/333-9716 or e-mailing patronservices@krannertcenter.illinois.edu. Please allow two weeks’ notice for a special tour.

Each tour of Krannert Center is a little bit different because of our often-changing activities. Tour highlights include detailed information on how the Foellinger Great Hall achieves its world-renowned acoustical properties; an up-close look at the scene, costume, and prop shops; visits to the magnificent rehearsal spaces; and much more. Tour routes vary according to the schedule of performance and recording activities, classes that may be taking place, or special events that are in progress.
